Event Description

With winter settled over the mortal world once more, those seeking adventure can turn to the fae realm.
Avalon Questing 3 offers 3 quests. PC 2 of them, NPC 1. Each 2 hour quest slot will be different with a different team behind it.

Slot 1. Owen - Low Combat
You have received a letter from an unknown sender. You can’t quite recall anyone delivering this letter to you, but here it is nonetheless. A deer skull sigil adorns the upper left corner of the envelope, and your name is written in deep purple ink in the center.
Greetings esteemed guest,
You are hereby invited to the grand manor of Levenstone on the border of the Expanse of Ambivalence in the Wyld Realms on the 1st of the mortal month of Gloomfrost. Come prepared and dressed for an evening of feasting, revelry, and entertainment. All under my roof will be my guests, and sheltered from harm, lien, and obligation so long as I live.
Gracefully yours,
Duke Hala del’Rhomar

Slot 2. Randy & Kathy - Medium Combat
In a quiet village in the woods, there have been some unusual events as of late. An empty field had a large meadow appear seemingly overnight. Locals who have gone to explore this corn field like area have been reported missing. Farmers have also reported missing cattle and possibly large footprints. The local cobbler has also woken up to massive piles of completed shoes that she does not recall making. These villagers are seeking aid to help explore these mysteries. They don't have much to share as a reward aside from possibly a hearty meal and their appreciation.

Slot 3. Hillary - High Combat
A call for help has emerged from deep within the Wildes. A strange call, one not formed in the common tongue or the elven. No, it was a strange and lilting form of the Draconic language which cried out for help in the dreams of those who heard it. Which raises the question. What is there for a faerie dragon to fear?

Rules Changes and Notes

To sign up to PC/NPC modules, use the spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1om7-q3ChNcY2hyxnWz8KNESqNSZKuu-iPPlIW4YM6XY/edit?usp=sharing
It will really help us plan if everyone could fill this out if they plan to come to the event.

Detect Magic is being changed at this event:

Detect Magic - (1st Circle)

Uses: 5 - Verbal: 30 - Active: Must perform a small detection ritual, such as looking through special glasses.

This spell allows the spellcaster to identify sources of magical energy in the area they are currently in. “Area” is defined as either the enclosed space they are currently in, such as a room, tent, hallway, etc., or the area of the outdoors bounded by the encounter boundaries. This spell must be cast in front of the MM or EH. Once it is complete, the MM or EH will point the sources of magical energy inside of the area, but not necessarily identify what they are.
Sources of magical energy include, but are not limited to: active spells, such as circles or wards; enchanted or magic items, excluding those on other PCs; enchanted beings; and other active magical effects. The EH or MM must identify all of the magic sources within the space unless they are hidden from this spell in some way. Any object or being under the effects of Skew Divination will not be revealed by this spell, and anything inside a CoP will not be revealed, though the CoP itself will.

Special Calls:

Final Strike - Call with radius - Magical effect, kills all in radius. Blocked by resist magic, resist death, CoP

Shatter - A sword blow - Breaks armor it hits, by hit location. Blocked by resist death, aura of protection. Breaks weapons/shields. Standard sword blows to unarmored locations.

Knockback - A Sword blow - Take 5 steps back (or into a wall), or put your back on the ground. Damage can be blocked by resist death, movement cannot be resisted.

There may be other unusual calls explained at the event that only apply per-module

Regionals:

Regionals are zero-cost buydowns.

Magic Items:

Items from the backed item list, or SMAS In-House items pass by default, though they should be checked with the runner of each module to be sure.

Other Notes

This event is being held in the Odeum, on the top floor of the Reuben Campus Center. There are stairs in the center of the lobby, and an elevator in the hallway next to the bathrooms.

Please bring shoes that will not leave marks on the floor.
