Event Wrap-up
It was a brutally hot weekend and they threw in a bonus thunderstorm
just to make things interesting, but regardless, we can put down
another Queen of Hearts in the books. Team Hooray and Team Kara, you
both fought well, with deep regard for the philosophies of your teams,
bringing honor to yourselves and to the queens that you represented.

We would, of course, like to thank the individuals who helped to make
this year's Queen of Hearts a success.

First, to our guest-marshals and staff who put aside their option to
play in order to use their skills and experience to make the event the
best it can be. Jeremy Grayson, Sean Veale, Dave Martin, Kyle Yazinka,
Steve Yazinka, Josh Fitzgerald, Michel Venne, Dave Hayden, Christina
Hayden, Rich Pavis, and Jen Gallagher.

A very special thank you belongs to Leanne Micciche for dutifully
checking in the magic and items for over 100 people and dealing with
the basically impossible task of magic marshaling all of the craziness
that happens during war maneuvers.

There were far to many people to thank individually for this effort,
but we also wanted to generally thank the entirety of the site for the
overall clean up effort. The storm Saturday night was a bit
devastating overall and certainly did not leave much unscathed, but as
we waled the site at the end we found almost no trash. Honestly I
can't remember the site having been left so clean.

And again a thank you to the many patrons who put in anywhere from a
few minutes to a couple hours of their time helping us do things like
move picnic tables, disassemble the castle, fold tarps, and the
hundreds of other jobs that need to be done before we can even start
the pack-up job in earnest.

Also, to our loyal staff of Rhiassans, who help plan and toil for
months ahead of time to try to push the event forward every year. Lani
Grayson, Heather Magnoli, Ben Hamilton, Katie Skeggs, Alex Sargent,
John Gouthro, Adam Ruzzo, Alex Groom, and Katie Cannamela. We would
also like to extend a deep appreciation for the individuals who were
not on staff, but nonetheless showed up to help us set up on Friday
and those who stayed throughout the latest hours of cleanup on Sunday
evening to help us pack up the site. Angie Gray, Pat Bobell, Zach
Senchuk, Toryn Gray, Pi Fisher, Tucker Noyes, Jony Balboni, Paul
Tilton, Mike Preato, Ben Pepper, and Dan Whittle.

And finally, a giant thank you to everyone who showed up to fight, who
showed up to watch, who showed up to take care of others, who showed
up to be a part of the grand Realms tradition that is Queen of Hearts.
We've said it before but, Queen of Hearts isn't something that Rhiassa
does, its something that we all do when we come together to celebrate
who we are and what we can do as a community.

Congratulations team Kara!

– Jason, Jennifer, and Alysha
